Our Neuro-community.

The Monash Clinical Neuropsychology Society (MCNS) is a trainee-led group that aims to build a vibrant community of current and aspiring postgraduate trainees of the PhD (Clinical Neuropsychology) program at Monash University. MCNS is motivated to provide trainees with regular social, networking and professional development events. The group also aims to promote clinical neuropsychology at the undergraduate level through social and educational opportunities.

At present, MCNS serves over 50 PhD (Clinical Neuropsychology) trainees.

A message from our presidents.

As a relatively new and developing society, our focus in 2026 is on strengthening MCNS as a natural and valued part of the training experience. We aim to continue creating a space where trainees across all years feel connected, supported and part of a wider community while navigating the demands of training. We also aim to create valuable opportunities for professional development and growth.

Looking ahead, our longer-term vision is for MCNS to become a widely recognised and trusted hub for neuropsychology-related connection and information. Over time, MCNS aims to support not only current trainees, but also aspiring trainees, alumni, and the broader Clinical Neuropsychology community in Australia.

Our history.

MCNS was established as a graduate trainee association in 2024 by Tamrin Barta and Diny Thomson, then-third-year trainees in the PhD (Clinical Neuropsychology) program, a 3.5-year graduate research degree that incorporates clinical training in clinical neuropsychology. Recognising the strong sense of community that already existed within the program, MCNS was created to foster an environment in which this community could be nurtured through events and opportunities for networking, socialising and educational advancement.
